ClosePlants in the ficus family adapt well to indoor living, and the Asian Council Tree is no exception. Like its cousins, this variety likes a well-lit room, deep watering when the top inch of soil is dry, and a bit higher humidity than most homes offer. That means positioning the plant away from heater vents, and either grouping 'Variegata' with houseplants requiring a similar environment, using a humidfier, or placing the container on a pebble-filled saucer with a bit of water in it. More light will mean more visible variations in leaf coloring. Pets would not be happy if they decide to chew on this ficus, nor would the plant.
