Such an unattractive common name for such a beautiful perennial that's even more interesting once the orchid-like flowers emerge in summer.

CloseToad Lily is a great shade loving ground cover, able to eventually naturalize where even the toughest plants won't grow. Narrow lance-shaped green leaves edged narrowly with golden yellow will lighten those dark corners from spring until the summer. Purple orchid-like flowers emerge at the tips of upright stems in late summer into the fall, before the entire plant dies back in a hard freeze.
