Tricyrtis formosana 'Samurai'

Toad Lily is an unusual shade-loving ground cover or front-of-border specimen, capable of naturalizing where even the toughest plants won't grow. Slender lance-shaped green leaves edged narrowly with golden yellow will lighten those dark corners from spring until fall freeze. Purple orchid-like flowers emerge at the tips of upright stems in late summer into the fall, before the entire plant dies back. Consider growing 'Samurai' toad lily in container planters or hanging baskets where the late-season flowers can be more readily seen and appreciated.
