'Jantar' means amber in Polish, and that's the coloring it takes on when the temperatures drop in the fall and winter.

CloseThis thuja's common name says it all - Amber Gold Arbovitae is indeed a bright gold color in the summer and spring, then deepens to an amber color in the fall and winter. Growing six to twelve inches per year, this evergreen specimen can eventually reach 15 feet tall, but only three feet wide, making it an excellent choice for borders or as a privacy screen. Thujas thrive in full sun and well-draining soil, so consider growing smaller versions of Amber Gold Arbovitae in containers initially before moving it out into the garden.
