Not sure who Ginnie is, but this Hen and Chicks will add delightful color and textural interest to container planters, hanging baskets, and those hard-to-water garden spots.

CloseHens and Chicks don't seem like an optimal choice for the rainy Pacific NW, but they do amazingly well here when planted in well-draining soil and are given ample sun. 'Ginnie's Delight' adds color and textural interest to container planters, hanging baskets, and those dry, gravelly borders, with its fine hairs and red pointed leaves. The color of 'Ginnie's Delight' will change throughout the year, sometimes predominantly red (springtime) and other times green with red tips (summer). Summertime flowers bring on the bees and butterflies, but the "hen" will die after flowering, leaving all its chicks to take its place. 'Ginnie's Delight' is an excellent ground cover in xeriscapes and needs little water once established, but please, water regularly when first planted!
