For those who like tidy, compact yet floriferous perennials, consider this tough, reliable Meadow Sage.

CloseLike most salvias, 'Marvel Sky Blue' Meadow Sage is a true bee and hummingbird magnet. With an upright, vertical profile, this perennial blooms from late spring into the fall, sending up violet-blue blossoms on a compact, foot tall and wide mound of foliage. The flower spikes are wonderful cut flowers and deadheading will prolong reblooms. This variety's leaves resemble the gray-green color and texture of culinary sage, and have a wonderful fragrance when bruised, which may be why deer and rabbits don't care for it. Hardy down to -20 degrees, this meadow sage will return in the spring for years to come.
