These early spring bloomers are so unique with their seemingly endless layers of petals, visitors often ask "Is it real?"

CloseYes, these are definitely real, in spite of their uncanny resemblance to the paper flowers once used to decorate high school floats. Often a sign that spring is truly on the way, Persian Buttercups come in a vast array of warm colors, and do well in cooler temperatures. 'Sprinkles Pink' ranunculus produces lovely deep pink, multi-petaled flowers that average two to three inches across and are long-lasting cut flowers. We tend to treat ranunculi as annuals here in the Pacific NW, but dedicated gardeners can over-winter the frost-tender bulbs in greenhouses or garages in pots and move them out into the garden come warmer weather.
