Thymus vulgaris 'Caborn Wine and Roses'

Many of the varieties in the Thymus genus are either/or - that is, they are either edible or ornamental. 'Caborn Wine and Roses' is one that can fulfill both functions, with pretty pinkish-red flowers blanketing the edible foliage in late spring into early summer. As it true of most varieties of thyme, this one loves the sun, spreads quickly, and is the darling of pollinators. Staying low but spreading wide, 'Caborn Wine and Roses' thyme works well between pavers or trailing over retaining walls, hanging baskets, and container planters. Deer don't care for the strong fragrance or flavor, and it is purportedly evergreen. It may disappear entirely in extreme cold, but it bounces back quickly in the spring.
