Thymus serpyllum 'Elfin'

Creeping or wild thyme is a gardener's favorite when something low-growing is needed to soften rocky outcrops, fill in between stepping stones, or along walkways where there may be light foot traffic. 'Elfin' stays low to the ground, about one inch tall, but if planted in shadier conditions, it may mound slightly before spreading outward. Minute gray-green foliage is covered with pink flowers in mid-summer and frankly is perfect for fairy gardens. Fairly drought-tolerant once established, 'Elfin' is not appetizing to deer or rabbits, but bees will love the summer flowers.
