No need for a male and female plant to get those colorful red berries. This variety is self-pollinating and more compact as well, providing year-round greenery in a rounded, two foot tall shrub with pinkish-white blooms in the spring and red berries in the fall/winter.
Product Description
Product Description
Reeves skimmia can be viewed as a space-saver and a bargain for those who want an evergreen shade plant with colorful winter berries. Because the fragrant white flowers are composed of both male and female parts, there's no need for a male and female plant. This variety is a bit smaller than Skimmia japonica, staying under three feet in height and spreading up to three feet wide. Fragrant, white, springtime flowers become red berries in the fall and winter, something both gardeners and birds will appreciate. FYI, birds can eat the berries but humans should not.
