Sempervivum SUPERSEMPS® 'Ruby'

It's often difficult to describe the color of a particular variety of Hens and Chicks since that can change due to the time of year, the temperature, and the amount of water it gets. Supersemps® 'Ruby' is typically the color of red wine, although green may become more prominent under certain conditions (not enough light, time of year). Whatever the color, its super-sized hens make it worthy of being a centerpiece in mixed succulent hanging baskets and container plants. Its chicks will fill in the gaps, and will replace the hen once it flowers and dies. Sempervivums are tough and adapt well to our Pacific NW winters, though the roots will rot out in constantly wet soil. They typically need more light than is available in most homes, so if you want to grow Supersemps® 'Ruby' or any other Sempervivum indoors, consider investing in grow lights.
