Blue-green leaves take on pink to burgundy hues as the temperatures drop, adding color to the winter garden.
Product Description
Product Description
Due to its blue-green coloring and cupped leaves, 'Pacific Blue Ice' Hens and Chicks is similar in looks to echeverias, but is much tougher than those frost-sensitive succulents. Hardy down to -20 degrees, it can handle less-than-fertile, fast-draining soil if planted in the ground, and is a worthy addition to year-round, outdoor container planters and hanging baskets. Fine hairs line the broad leaves that flush pink to burgundy as the temperatures drop, adding color to the garden when it is most needed. Older hens will produce tall stalks of pink flower clusters in late summer before dying, attracting bees and butterflies. Clearing out the dead hens will make room for all the baby chicks to take root and fill in.
