Sempervivum 'El Toro'

'El Toro' Hens and Chicks is a larger than usual variety, with fairly open rosettes growing up to eight inches across. Pointed tips and watermarks, or banding, on the leaves add visual interest to an already eye-catching succulent. New foliage starts out green then gradually turns pink before cold weather brings out the darkest shades of burgundy or purple. Sempervivums are monocarpic, meaning that a hen will die after flowering, so with the larger sized rosettes, they'll leave a bigger space after flowering for the chicks to fill in, eventually spreading up to a foot wide.
