Sempervivum 'Chick Charm Cherries Jubilee'

While "Sempervivum" translates to always living, that doesn't necessarily mean a plant will look the same year-round. 'Cherries Jubilee' Hens and Chicks came into the nursery this summer a pale red, but as the temps began to drop, the red tones really deepened. Succulents do best in well-draining soil, so gardeners living in the Portland metro area may need to grow Hens and Chicks in pots, as our heavy clay soil may cause the roots to rot out during our wet winters. Fairly low maintenance once established, Hens and Chicks are drought-tolerant, deer- and rabbit-resistant, and great pollinator magnets when they bloom.
