Sempervivum a. 'Forest Frost' 4 Inch

With a growing trend toward xeriscaping, or dry landscapes, ground covers such as Hens and Chicks can be an integral part of such gardens. Hardy down to about -20 degrees, Sempervivums, as the botanical name implies, are "always living," though they may get a bit weary looking in poorly draining soil. 'Forest Frost' makes a nice addition to rock gardens, growing in the crevices or filling in areas that need something with texture. Note that Hens and Chicks are monocarpic, which means that once the biggest "hen" blooms, it will die; however, you'll most likely have lots of little chicks to fill the gap and become hens themselves.  
Although 'Forest Frost' Hens and Chicks is drought-tolerant once established, it needs time to get established, so plant in soil with good drainage and water when the soil is dry. Hanging baskets and container planters make a great choice for succulent gardens, and 'Forest Frost' is an eye-catching choice.
