Sedum 'Night Embers'

'Night Embers' is fairly tall for a sedum, forming upright mounds about two feet tall and wide, with almost-black foliage when grown in full sun. Sturdy, upright stems develop dark pink clusters of flowers in late summer to fall, attracting pollinators seeking one last meal before freeze. As is true of all succulents, 'Night Embers' needs well-draining soil, and seems to do better in container planters rather than our heavy clay soil. Give this striking sedum as much sun as possible for the best coloring and water thoroughly and infrequently once established. Foliage will die down in the fall, and new foliage will begin appearing in early spring.
