Sedum 'Lime Zinger'

Stonecrops are well named, as they often flourish in those gravelly, dry areas of one's yard where nothing else seems to grow. 'Lime Zinger' is one of those hearty succulents, forming small lime green rosettes that are all the brighter for the contrasting red edges. Let this one trail over the edge of retaining walls, hanging baskets, or container planters, as it can spread up to 18 inches wide while staying around six inches tall. Pink flowers top the fleshy stems in late summer to early fall, attracting bees and butterflies.  
Pacific NW gardeners have discovered that stonecrops don't like our typical clay soil and will actually rot out during the winter if left standing in soggy soil. If your 'Lime Zinger' looks a bit worse for wear at the end of winter, simply trim back the stems to encourage new growth. And don't throw the trimmings away - simply tuck them back in pots or in the ground for new plants to form.
