Sedum album 'Green Ice'

For many sedums, life in the Pacific NW can be challenging, especially when planted in the clay soil typical to the Portland metro area. At the most basic, they need lots of sun and excellent drainage, so sedums that are supposed to be evergreen may look a bit bedraggled by the spring. 'Green Ice' is a low-growing variety with miniscule, bead-like leaves that stay green throughout the winter. Growing it in pots as a trailer may keep the plant looking its best. Pollinators love the summer flowers that can literally cover the foliage. They may be cut back for a tidier look.
