With summers here in the maritime Pacific NW becoming hotter and drier, more gardeners are seeking out drought-tolerant plants. 'Greg Starr' Skullcap doesn't look like it could withstand the heat, but does quite well in xeriscapes and rockeries once established. Small red flowers start emerging in late spring and continue all summer. Use in the borders of sunny gardens or as a trailer in hanging baskets and container planters - it stays low and spreads up to a foot wide. Evergreen in warmer climates, it may die back in our winters.
