It's not unusual to see Pincushion flowers in the blue to purple hues but purplish-red versions are a rarity. 'Summer Nights' forms feathery mounds of foliage about a foot tall and almost as wide, sporting tall spikes of flowers from late spring and throughout the summer. Deadhead the spent blooms and they'll keep on coming right up until fall freeze. Leave the end of summer blooms for the birds to enjoy as the cold weather sets in.
