Salvia greggii 'Royal Bumble'

Gardeners almost swoon when they see Black & Blue salvia in bloom with cobalt blue flowers contrasting dramatically against black calyxes and stems. 'Royal Bumble' salvia is just as swoon-worthy, with intense red flowers emerging from almost black calyxes and stems from late spring right up until frost. Its form is more like Hot Lips salvia, with small, fragrant green leaves forming a compact rounded shrub two to three feet tall and wide. Hardy to zero degrees, 'Royal Bumble' will benefit from a light pruning in late fall or winter to maintain a tidy shape. Needless to say, humming birds and pollinators LOVE this salvia and deer tend to avoid it.
