Salvia greggii Mirage® 'Cherry Red'

Considering how big the salvia genus is, it's no surprise that gardeners will often have several different varieties in their yards. The nemorosas have leaves that look more like the sage used in cooking while other species have softer, smaller leaves such as those found on 'Hot Lips.' Mirage® 'Cherry Red' is similar to its cousin, but is a much more compact variety, standing about a foot tall and wide. Its daintier size makes it a good candidate for container planters and hanging baskets, with just as much magnet power for hummingbirds and pollinators, especially with its bright red blooms.
