Rosmarinus officinalis 'Gorizia'

While many people seek out rosemary for its culinary uses, more and more folks are finding it to be a durable, evergreen ornamental for the garden. 'Gorizia' is unusual in that its leaves are twice the size of other rosemary cultivars, with a slight gingery flavor. The stiff branches work well as skewers for grilling, imparting a wonderful flavor to meats and vegetables. That said, this variety is hardy down to zero degrees Fahrenheit, and actually blooms in the fall and winter, making it a valuable ornamental for its year-round interest. 'Gorizia' forms a dense, upright shrub, three to five feet tall and wide. It takes well to trimming and can be used as an evergreen hedge that is deer- and rabbit-resistant, while also attracting pollinators with its blue flowers.
