While 'Nico' Swedish Ivy is a wonderful indoor specimen for hanging baskets and container planters, it becomes a rock star when added to outdoor summer shade baskets. The dense, rich-looking foliage fills out container planters with ease, providing a luxurious background for flowering summer annuals such as fuchsias, begonias, and impatiens. Mounding eight to ten inches tall, it spreads out one to three feet wide, often hiding the container planter with its dense foliage. While it can handle some sun, it should be watered regularly to look its best. As summer fades into fall, consider taking cuttings off 'Nico' and pop them in water to root and make new plants for the indoor garden.
