Botanically speaking, fastigiate refers to upward sloping branches that are almost parallel to the trunk, and narrowing towards the top. That is the perfect description of 'Iseli Fastigiate' blue spruce, and explains why this is such an ideal specimen for those with limited garden space. It can certainly begin life in a container planter, but would benefit from being moved into the ground so it can reach its full potential in later years. Considered a moderate grower, 'Iseli Fastigiate' may gain six to 12 inches per year, depending upon the environment, topping out around 25 feet tall and four to six feet wide at maturity.
