Picea glauca 'Echiniformis'

The cultivar name, 'Echniformis,' means hedgehog in Greek and pretty much describes this specimen's overall shape when young. Dense, blue-green, bristly needles cover uniform branches, forming a rounded dome. As this white spruce ages, it develops into a broad, conical shape. Brown buds at the branch tips add fall interest. A slow-growing dwarf evergreen, 'Hedgehog White Spruce' adds wonderful color and texture to rock gardens, container planters, borders, and hanging baskets.
