Philodendron erubescens Red Heart

The species name of this philodendron describes its most noticeable trait, that is, it turns red or blushes. New leaves are the reddest, but gradually deepen to a deep green with traces of red on the undersides. The center vein may also retain red coloring. The leaves can get quite large, some over 10 inches in length, but the plant itself stays under three feet tall and may be only half that wide. Though not a climber, Red Heart may need a bit of support, along with lots of indirect light, deep but infrequent watering, and higher humidity than what humans typically prefer.
