Penstemons, aka Beardtongues, conjure up images of cottage gardens and flowery meadows, with their tall, bright blooms from spring into summer. Standing almost three feet tall and not quite as wide at maturity, Summit Sweets™ Ruby Beardtongue will bring out the hummingbirds and pollinators, and will put smiles on gardeners' faces. Better placed toward the back of garden borders, they also do well in large container planters, and serve as the "thriller" in mixed plantings. While hardy down to -20 degrees Fahrenheit, penstemons bloom best with lots of sun, though they tolerate a bit of shade.
