'Heavy Metal' Switch Grass is one tough customer, actually happier in under-fertilized soil, tolerant of wet and dry areas, and thrives in full sun. Metallic blue/green foliage is topped by pink-tinged plumes in the summer that persist into the fall. Foliage remains erect throughout the growing season and gradually yellows when the temperatures drop. While this cultivar can self-seed, the new plants often lack the coloring of 'Heavy Metal' and should be removed.
