Osmanthus delavayi x heterophylla

False Sweet Olive, aka Asian Essence Osmanthus, is sometimes mistaken for holly because of its small, dark green, tooth-edged leaves. It is much better behaved than real holly, and can provide year-round greenery as a foundation plant or an informal or pruned hedge. It can also be used in year-round container planters and hanging baskets while still small, though this osmanthus should eventually be moved out into the garden to reach it full potential. Fragrant, white, tubular flowers appear in the spring on arching branches that can reach five feet in height and almost as wide at maturity.
