Nicotiana alata 'Lime Green'

Flowering Tobacco is a somewhat old-fashioned flower, but there's nothing demure or proper about 'Lime Green' nicotiana. Trumpet-shaped lime green flowers start in late spring and keep going right up until fall freeze, attracting hummingbirds, pollinators, and humans alike. Nicotiana forms a small sub-shrub, 12 to 36 inches tall, and 12 to 24 inch wide, so don't hesitate to cut some flowers for indoor enjoyment. Flowering tobacco grows well in full to partial sun (i.e. morning shade, afternoon sun, or vice versa), and its sweet fragrance is most noticeable in the evening, so plant in patio containers or along garden paths. Once caveat - nicotiana is toxic to humans and pets, so keep out of the reach of chewing fur babies and wash your hands after handling.
