Nepeta kubanica 'Neptune'

Not to be confused with catnip, 'Neptune' catmint is appreciated more by pollinators than your feline friends. This is a dwarf variety, standing less than a foot tall and about as wide, but with big blue blooms and a minty fragrance. Deadheading will prolong the blooming period, but for those who don't want to fuss, simply cut back the entire plant after the first blooms are spent to about four inches. New growth will emerge and flowers will follow. This sun-loving perennial works well in container planters and hanging baskets, as well as garden borders.
