Mukdenia rossii 'Karasuba'

The common names for this unusual shade perennial more or less describe the look of the leaves. Starting in summer, the fan or palm-shaped green leaves begin to take on red tones from the edges inward, eventually turning bright red in the fall before dying back. White flowers appear in the spring, but Crimson Fans is really all about the foliage. Lovely in container planters, hanging baskets or along borders, Crimson Fans needs protection from the afternoon sun and can handle deep shade. It is also wet-area tolerant so may be a good choice to plant near ponds, streams or those areas of the yard that don't drain well.
