Nicknamed Flame Grass for good reason, 'Purpurascens' starts out green in the spring and early summer, then takes on red-orange tones as summer progresses into the fall. Seed heads rise above the grass as well, going from pink shades to white by the winter, adding motion and visual interest to the sleeping garden. Full to partial sun brings out the best colors, and can serve as back-of-border fall color or the thriller in large container planters.
