For those who have space for a vigorous climbing vine and really enjoy fragrant plants, 'Gold Flame' honeysuckle is a must-have. Whorls of gold-throated flowers emerge from dusky pink buds, releasing that heavenly honeysuckle fragrance from spring right into the fall. Hummingbirds, bees, and other pollinators flock to this climbing vine that can reach 10 to 15 feet in height and spread three to five feet wide. Full sun exposure and good air circulation will produce the most flowers and keep powdery mildew away. Though technically a deciduous vine, don't be surprised if 'Gold Flame' sticks around in milder winters. It may be pruned back in late fall to early spring before new growth emerges.
