Ligularia dentata 'Pandora'

Ligularia dentata 'Pandora' seems to be a rather somber addition to shade gardens with its foot-tall, dark purple/green leaves. Placed next to chartreuse green foliage or intensely colored tuberous begonias, the contrast is absolutely stunning. However; 'Pandora' can add its own blast of color when yellow daisy-like flowers start blooming in the summer, attracting bees and other pollinators. To keep things easy, consider growing this cultivar where it will get morning sun/afternoon shade, or all-day dappled sun. While 'Pandora' can tolerate full sun, it must be watered religiously, and frankly, its dark colors are best when grown with afternoon shade.
