Lettuce 'Red Sails' Jumbo Traypack

Red Sails' leaf lettuce is a colorful addition to fresh salads, as baby greens or more mature leaves. All that red coloring means more antioxidants that promote good health, as well as a hefty dose of vitamins A and K. This variety is soft and buttery in texture with no bitterness even as the weather warms. 'Red Sails' matures quickly.  Pull off individual outer leaves at any stage but leave the rest to continue growing, or cut off the mature head about 2" above ground level and let it regrow. This is a vigorous grower, preferring a bit of shade from the hot afternoon sun. Be sure to water regularly and watch for slugs.

Culinary Uses: Salads, as wraps, toppings for sandwiches or surprise - soups!

Harvest Time: Maturity at 30 - 40 days. Otherwise, harvest individual outer leaves as needed, leaving at least half the leaves for continuing growth.
