It may be best to treat Arabian jasmine as an annual here in the Pacific NW, as it will thrive outdoors during our summers and possibly early fall, but will die when the temps drop below 40 degrees. That said, consider planting this tropical wonder in a container so it can enjoy the outdoor summer garden, then move indoors or to a heated greenhouse for the fall and winter. Arabian jasmine can be used as a trailer in hanging baskets or trained up a support, as it is somewhat vining. If left to its own devices, it may form a sprawling mound. Prune lightly after the flowers die back to maintain a tidier shape. While it will flower best in full sun, it may prefer a well-lit room if grown indoors. Watch for scorching on the leaves if it gets direct sun indoors. Grow this oh-so-fragrant jasmine where passersby can enjoy the heady smell. Not only is the plant pet-friendly, but the flowers can be used to infuse teas as well.
