In the same family as brugmansia, Iochroma requires similar care - a bit tender for our Portland metro area and often treated as an annual, but it can be overwintered in a sheltered spot or indoors.

Once you've seen an Iochroma, aka Mini Angels Trumpet, you'll understand the common name. Clusters of deep purple, tubular flowers top the stems of this fast-growing shrub from spring into the fall. Since it blooms on new wood and grows fast, pruning this specimen two or three times a year would not be unusual, and may actually increase the blooms. Most Pacific NW gardeners will treat this specimen as an annual, although it may winter over if given shelter from extreme weather.
