Iberis sempervirens 'Masterpiece'

Part of Candytuft's botanical name, "sempervirens," translates roughly to always living, and this reliable low-growing perennial is indeed green year-round. Like most candytufts, 'Masterpiece' blooms best in full sun, but will do well in partial shade. This variety has large white blooms with pink centers, growing 8 to 12 inches tall and up to 18 inches wide. This is a great choice for retaining walls, rock gardens, hillsides, or areas that lean toward the dry side. It's an attractive addition to container planters or hanging baskets as well. Give it a light hair cut after blooming to keep the plant tidy looking, and you may get a second round of blooms.
