The color of hydrangea flowers are sometimes dictated by the soil pH, with more acidic soil producing blue to purple blooms and more alkaline soil resulting in pink blooms. 'Pia' isn't affected by that and consistently produces deep pink blooms with white eyes. Only two to three feet tall and wide, this variety can be grown in a large container planter or planted in the ground, producing an abundance of lovely mophead flowers all summer long.
