The purple passion plant is a popular choice for indoor gardens due to the lovely purple coloring and velvety texture of the leaves, both due to fine hairs that cover the leaves. Unlike many houseplants, the purple passion plant does not need higher humidity, and misting the leaves may well damage them. Water this specimen thoroughly when the surface soil is dry, and be careful not to overwater it. While Gynura aurantiaca can grow one to two feet tall and twice as wide, it is easy to prune back to a manageable size. If the stems get too leggy, the plant may need more light. The stems may be cut back and rooted to start new plants.
