Product Description
Actually a Ficus <em>microcarpa, </em>'Ginseng Grafted Ficus' is grown to develop a potbellied root stock (similar to ginseng roots), then a cutting of a small-leafed fig is grafted onto the root stock. Popular with bonsai enthusiasts, this unique houseplant needs periodic pruning and benefits from repotting once every few years. Depending upon growing conditions, this specimen could stay around a foot tall or be allowed to grow up to four feet in height. As is true of most figs, 'Ginseng Grafted Ficus' thrives in a well-lit room, prefers higher humidity, and should be watered thoroughly only when the soil is dry. Keep out of reach of pets and little people, as the plant is toxic if ingested.
