Fuchsia 'Dark Eyes'

The options for trailing flowers in the summer shade garden are not as extensive as those for sunnier spots, so trailing fuchsias are eagerly awaited each spring. 'Dark Eyes' is an apt name for this particular variety with deep purple, double corollas overlaid with red sepals. Use it as a trailer for a mixed shade planter or plant it on its own in a hanging basket.
Morning sun with afternoon shade or all-day dappled sun will encourage the most blooms. If the number of flowers seems to lessen as the season progresses, deadheading the spent blooms and seed pods may kickstart another round of flowers through the end of summer and into the fall. Some find the task relaxing!
