Nerve plants are one way to add color to the indoor garden without any flowers needed. The red veins pop against the matte-green foliage, and add an unusual texture to mixed planters as well. Place it at the edge of pot and let it trail, or plant it in a hanging basket. Fittonias will let you know when they're thirsty, so water thoroughly when the surface soil is dry. They also prefer a higher humidity than most humans so place the pot on a pebble-filled saucer and add water to barely cover the stones. A well-lit room with indirect sun will keep this fittonia looking its best.
