Ginseng Ficus is definitely an attention-getter for indoor gardens and that is a good thing, since it needs a bit more care than other tropical houseplants. To clarify, there is no ginseng involved, its bulbous roots are just similar in looks to ginseng. We believe this specimen is not grafted, as it bears the larger pointed leaves characteristic of Ficus retusa. Higher humidity, lots of indirect light, and watering when the surface soil is dry makes this a more demanding houseplant, and especially if one is training it as a bonsai in a shallow pot. Ginseng Ficus is not pet- or human-friendly, so please keep it out of the reach of chewing pets and little people.
