This dracaena can be grown in water, but a pebble substrate is needed, and regular fertilization during the growing season and weekly changes of distilled water are required for best results.

In its natural habitat, Lucky Bamboo can grow to five feet tall with leaves averaging seven inches in length, though it will stay much smaller when grown indoors, and it will rarely bloom. Stems of this dracaena are phototropic, meaning they move toward the light, so they can be shaped by rotating the pot periodically. Adventuresome gardeners can try retraining the stems to form decorative shapes. This is a slow-growing plant, so patience is required!
