Cyclamen can be a confusing plant to new and even experienced gardeners, since its life cycle is the opposite of most other perennials. Dormant in the summer with the foliage often dying back completely, flowers will appear in the fall and winter, sometimes carrying on into the spring. This is true for both indoor and outdoor gardening, so don't throw away what appear to be dead corms! Growing them outdoors can be challenging since some varieties are not hardy below 40 degrees, yet they flower best with full sun during the fall and winter. Indoors, they may bloom continuously from fall through spring, given plenty of indirect light. These cyclamen may be best for indoor gardening, and you can enjoy the flowers in the comfort of your own home!
