Cycas revoluta

Commonly known as Sago Palm, King Sago, or Japanese Sago Palm, this plant is actually more closely related to conifers, even though it looks like a palm. Very symmetrical in growth, Sago Palms can take up to 10 years to reach 2-3 feet tall. Give it lots of indirect light indoors. It can be moved outdoors to a location with filtered sun during the summer, but move it back inside when temps drop in the fall. The fronds form a beautiful rosette around a main trunk, but keep the plant away from areas of high foot traffic, and out of the mouths of pets. All parts of this plant are highly toxic and the fronds are downright prickly.
