Armenian cucumbers will make most people do a double-take. Long, pale green, with longitudinal furrows the length of the fruit, this simply does not look like a cucumber and in fact, is technically a melon of sorts. The taste, however, is all about cucumbers. Although exceptionally tolerant of heat, Armenian cucumbers can become bitter if not watered regularly. They also require a bit more space than other cucumbers, so plant starts about a foot apart, and send them up a trellis to keep fruits off the ground.
